Looking for video card recommendations
Hi Everyone. Last time I put together a PC I came here and you all made some great recommendations for a video card for me (Radeon 3850 is what I ended up with, if that gives you an idea of how long ago it was). That card was perfect for me at the time. Anyway I've got myself a new PC now so I'm hoping you all can help me out again.
Basically what I'm looking for is:
- Has at least 2 outputs. DVI or Displayport preferred. Technically my monitors now are only 1080p so HDMI would currently be ok, but I'm looking at upgrading and I don't think HDMI can go higher (right?). Bonus points for 3 outputs in case I decide on a 3rd monitor some time down the road.
- Quiet. My new machine is very quiet and I like it that way. Doesn't need to be fanless, as long as the fan is quiet under non-load conditions (i.e. running Windows apps)
- Not too big of a power hog. I have a 460w PSU, but few peripherals. I have a 600w PSU in the basement I could swap out, but I'd rather not if I don't have to.
- Decent 3D performance. I really don't play a lot of games anymore. Every once in a while I'll fire one up, but it's usually at least a couple years old. So I don't really need a powerhouse for 3D performance, but something middle-of-the-road would be nice.
I have a PCI-E 3.0 slot and I believe it can fit a pretty good sized card, probably even one of those double-wide ones. I'm looking to pay, preferrably, somewhere between $75 and $150. I could maybe be persuaded to go up to $200 but I'd rather put that extra cash elsewhere. $100 - $120 is really the sweet spot I had in mind.
Thanks in advance for your advice!
