Does it matter which slots your sound, video, and network cards are in? Does putting them in every second slot allow more air flow? I have a built in MB fan, but I don't think any of those cards have fans.

It does matter, because certain PCI slots are assigned to certain IRQ's

Yeah certain PCI cards have certain IRQs but most PCI cards really dont care where you put em. I have two NICs, a SB64 and a AHA-2940uw in my server and I've tried almost every combination possible (due to switchin hardware in and out of computers) and I've never had any probs what so ever.
But yeah if you have a vid card that tends to run a little hot its a good idea to leave the slot next to it open just for better airflow but unless you are OCing your card pretty heavy and every degree counts you wont care.
