Ryzen 3600, 3600, 3700x?
Hi folks it's been about 10 years since I was last on.
So my current rig from 2011/2012
i7 2700k
Corsair. H80i CPU cooling kit
32gb ddr3 1333
Samsung SSD
GTX 760 in SLI
Msi Mobo
850W psu
Antec 1200 full tower
It's time to update my system because it's having trouble starting and shutting down just an alarm system overall. I was looking at a new rig and it seems like the AMD was the way to go. This was my plan rig and wanted to get people's thoughts on it:
Ryzen 5 3600
Rx 5700
DDR4 3200 Ram 16GB
There will be zero overclocking.
My question is about getting which of these:
3600, 3600x or 3700x
5700 vs 5700xt
I'm not sure if it's worth putting the money into the 3600x, 3700x or put that extra for the 5700xt.
My PSU is good enough

You are right. But the key point/question is will you be gaming heavily?
If so, I'd go with one of the X ones... mainly because they have higher clock and OC better...
As for the video card, if you are going from the one in your sig (GTX 760 in SLI), I'd say even 5600XT will be good.
If you want 5700 series, I'd skip the XT. That's my 2 cents.

Thanks for the feedback.
The games I will play want a gtx 970 or equivalent (insurgency sandstorm, squad, division 2, breakpoint.
For the price difference I might as well go with the 5700. I understand that the extra erag on the x is not worth it compared to the amount of heat it generates.
So, would you put the money on the ryzen 3600x or Rx 5700xt or just save all my money and stick with just 3600 + 5700
If I go with higher I will either upgrade the CPU X or gpu xt but not both.

If you invest money in either video or CPU, I'd choose video/GPU anyday... the bottleneck always seems to come down to the video card.
I'd think that 3600 & 5700 is just dandy... but if you spent more, get 3600 & 5700XT

What mobo are you loking at? B450's like the MSI B450 Tomahawk MAX or Mortar MAX would save you some money to put into a better CPU/GPU. You don't really need an X570 unless you want/need PCIe4.0 and NVMe M.2 Gen 4, a 3700X + B450 Tomahawk/Mortar MAX + RX 5700/5700XT would be a very good starting point. Though I dislike nVidia, with framerate gains in DLSS 2.0, perhaps an RTX2060 Super if you can swing it....
