Page_Fault_in_nonpaged_Area

I have been using my PC with Vista for quite some time, no power supply problems, or heat problems.

I installed new drivers for my ASUS motherboard for the vga, sound, lan, and ide.

I'm pretty sure i restarted it afterwards and it worked. (i think i restarted it)

i started it up today ( first or second restart) and I got a BSOD:

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

0x00000050 (0xFFFFFFE8, 0x00000001, 0x8206A672, 0x00000000)

I would have wanted to go in and uninstall the new drivers, but when Windows starts up (safe mode or not) it doesn't even get to the window logo before this appears.

Most solutions include replacing 'corrupt' RAM, but I'm pretty sure it's just the new drivers. Is there something I can do, short of reinstalling vista?

p.s. is there any way to access my drivers/uninstall them without going into windows? what about DOS?

Have you tried booting into last known good configuration?

Another possibility is to use msconfig.
Under the Services tab check the Hide All Microsoft Services check box.
Then check Disable All.
Click the Startup tab and check the Disable All check box.
Then boot into safe mode and uninstall suspicious drivers.

i tried last known good config., and i couldn't do msconfig because i couldn't start windows.

Fortunately, i had my vista dvd, i used repair, and from there i could system restore, which i couldn't do before because i couldn't get into windows.

so the problem is fixed now, thx

AFAIK msconfig works when booting from the CD/DVD.

Did you find out what driver was the problem?

yea it was the new lan network driver

page fault in non paged area is an error code the system spits out when the referenced memory could not be read or written to. First inclination is to suspect memory but since you recently installed drivers, i'm leaning towards the driver improperly referencing memory which is whats causing the issue.
insert you windows vista CD/DVD.
Boot to it and then select the Repair windows option.
Vista will then run an automated utility that will attempt to isolate the issue and resolve it. if it does not, run startup repair

if the automatic repair fails then you will be booted into the Windwos Recovery Environemnt (WinRE) From there you can manually run a system restore back to a point before you installed the drivers,

That error is caused 99% of the time by poorly written drivers.
Rebooting into safe mode without networking or with LKG configration gets you going without the hassle of a repair install.

After doing a repair install, you must reapply all service packs, patches and hot fixes that are not on the media you used for the repair install.
