I have not yet tried out IIS5 but Apache runs much smoother...

You probably have a 10mbit standard HUB. To get a fastar LAN connection you'll need a switched 10mbit HUB or even an 100mbit HUB.
With 10mbit NICs and 10mbit HUB things tend to lag a bit.

I have an Epox mb which i've never experienced any probs with.
Just that some ram's won't work any good with it, but i just changed to other models of ram. works fine now.

I've got an IBM Deskstar(20gb, 7200rpm) which runs very smoothly =)
I also have an older disk, Quantum Fireball4.3gb, which i've never had any probs with. But it's old and only 4500rpm.
