cool, that gets all the windows setup stuff out of the way. does anyone know what i might have to do on the routers?
-
it very well might. i remember being able to gain 2-3Mhz on my fsb overclock after swithing from one BIOS to another. you likely won't gain much, but it is possible to gain a little.

to actually do the install, you need shrike-i386-disc1, shrike-i386-disc2, and shrike-i386-disc3, which should be the first 3 .ISO files on the link i provided.

at 200fsb (400 effectively, as you posted) that memory should definately be able to do 6-2-2-2. don't take them all down at once though, i'd start with one particular timing at once, that way if one...

what that memory chances are you can do 6-2-2-2 without a hitch, depending on your fsb of course. 8-3-3-2.5 are pretty lax timings, corsair XMS is definately capable of better.

it's worth a shot. run it one way and watch your cpu temps, then flip it over and watch your temps...keep whichever is better. if they're dead even, i'd blow air into the heatsink because it will...

kinda a simple suggestion, but have you made sure the IDE cable is pressed in good and secure into the back of the drive? I've seen instances where a drive could be detected properly, but couldn't...

however he also had to take a BIG hit in his overclock as the strength of his 5v rail came down, so it's not as if the lower voltage didn't affect him in any way, because it certainly did.

what are the specs of this system? which hardware and what power supply?

the thermalright heatsinks generally do better with the air being pushed into the fins of the heatsink, but it's not a bad idea to try it the other way because air circulation and ventilation is...

yeah, there's a lot more involved than just the BIOS when you swap motherboards, especially when going from one chipset to another. your system needs to properly detect and install drivers for all of...

any distro of linux will usually have an ftp site where you can download the .ISO files and then burn them to cd with a program like Nero. for redhat 9, click the link below

SSE = Streaming SIMD Extensions. (whee, an acronym IN an acronym ;) )SIMD stands for Single Instruction/Multiple Data. I wont get into the details (frankly because i don't know them), but in a...

NO OCZ....their ram is lousy....usually they take chips of lower rated speed and test them to see if they'll stably run at higher speeds. if they do, they market them as such. so that 3500 might...
