Ok, for my board the current newest BIOS is the AwardBIOS 3.8. I'm pretty sure that since I bought my motherboard almost a year ago, I have an older BIOS.
So does flashing in a new BIOS affect...

Ok, I'm thinking of taking some ducting, putting one side against an open window with a mesh thing, the other end to my side intake fan.
So, how safe is this? I'm pretty sure that it will suck...

Well, to be completely ignorant: what's SSE?
Now, I think I'll just pop in the new chip, have it run for about 48 hours. Then, I'll overclock it. Then if things aren't stable, I'll...

Ok, when going from one CPU to another, say an 1800+ to 2500+ Barton, is it necessary to reinstall Windows?
Only the CPU and RAM are replaced. Nothing else.

Overclocking laptops is basically non existent. The cooling on laptops is so weak, even the slightest temperature increase can start frying things.

Basically you only really need fast RAM for overclocking. You won't notice a performance difference between, say, PC3200 and PC4000.
