I would suggest buying a Nexus 4 instead, but good luck finding one. Google is STILL sold out.

That comes with Windows 8. Their printer/copier/scanner isn't fully compatible with Windows 8, so to avoid having to buy them a new printer I bought them something with Windows 7. Also the screen...

We bought them a 52" Sharp HDTV for christmas a couple years ago. Movies & TV look pretty good on it.

Can't think of any good reason why you shouldn't use it.
Here's the specs, though it doesn't mention how much power the 4200 uses....

Not sure if they'd notice the differnce between the 2 CPUs. Nor do they multitask enough to really need a quad core CPU. My rig is about 2 years old, has an Athlon II X4 635 (passmark score 3,297)...

AXDA2500 DKV4D Z314997281814

Ageed, or you could just get some Buffalo Tech, $81 for 512MB PC2700.
For mobo I'd get NF7-S if he needs SATA, or you could go for el-cheapo Shuttle AN35N-Ultra $60.
Unless he specifially needs...

I'd get an NF2 mobo with onboard video as it will be way faster than his Voodoo.
Abit NF7-M is $104 (currently out of stock)
Biostar M7NCG PRO is $95, though it seems to have stability problems...
