cat /proc/interrupts will list all the IRQs and the drivers associated with them
if you haven't loaded the driver the hardware will not show up when you cat the file
with the right tools...

su to root
cd to /usr/src/linux
make menuconfig (if that doesn't work then "source /etc/profile")
key down to the network devices section
got into the 10/100 mbit section...

usually unless stated, your kernel *should* be backwards compatible with your driver although I'm not very sure about that
try asus's website, more and more hardware manufacturers are distrubuting...

I've reinstalled the driver with X running (for when I recompiled my kernel)
if you do a kernel reinstall then you'll have to install the drivers again

are either of the NICs bad, is the cable ok?
test both those things

I'm pretty pleased with it, check their card/driver database to see if your card has support
