9700 Pro problem help plz
I have noticed that in Medal of Honor my frame rates seem kinda jumpy. I decided to try a few different drivers, and run 3Dmark 2001se a few times to test them. What I noticed has kind of got me worried.
The Fill rate single texturing and fill rate multipule texturing tests are kinda skippy also. They are smooth for a few seconds..then they kinda skip or lag a few, then smooth again, kinda like when I play MOH. The last test, dont remember the name, the one with the horse also kinda skips.
None of these skips were present with my GF3 TI 200.
What I am wondering, is if it is the drivers, which arent too great at the moment, or if my card may need a nice RMAing. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

How's the performance with other games? Does this performance problem consistently occur with every game?

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2,No One Lives Forever 2, and GTA 3 seem to run fine. On the other hand last night I reinstalled Rune:Halls of Valhalla, and it had the same performance problems MOHAA had.

Make sure v-sync is turned on in those games.

Alright I will try that when I get home. But what about the Fill Rate (single texture),Fill Rate (mulitpule textures) and Pixel Shader tests in 3DMark 2001SE? Why would those be skipping and lagging? I still score a 17XX.X M Texels and 2500.X M Texels on the tests, but visually they skip around like I have a damn MX card or something. All the other tests run great and I get good fps.

Umm, you had a GF3 in there before. Did you by chance make sure that you killed any and all traces of the drives and registry settings? Although most people don't like doing it, they bite the bullet and format/reinstall Windows to eliminate all traces of previous cards. This cures most problems like this 98% of the time.
If this had been a GF to GF, or ATi to ATi transition this likely wouldn't be a problem, but when you got from GF to ATi or vice versa, this is what almost always happens unless you do a clean install of Windows.

Well I formated two days before I go the Radeon, so no, I have yet to format again. But I am going to on Friday when I get my new mobo. I am just hoping it's not the card. Last thing I need is a $350 semi-working card.
I appreciate the comments from all of you. I will let you know what I discover.

What chipset does your mobo have?

I have 2 systems with 9700Pros in them, i have no problems in The Asus NForce2 mobo but in my Epox 8K3A+ all i needed was the most current bios, Flashed it and guess ahat, no more skippinh pauses or stutters. So i would try that first.

1011 is the latest bios for the A7A266. If the card still stutters after I get my new mobo, and get it flashed and do a complete reinstall, then its going back asap.

Damn that suks, im really impressed with these Nforce2 boards the speed increase across the board is crazy!

Yeah the Nforce2 look good. I hope I am gonna like the 8k5a3+. I know it cant possibly be worse that this board..geez..it sucks bigtime. Anyway, using the refresh rate forcer, i got my framerates in MOHAA and Rune running smooth as silk. But those 3 tests in 3dmark are still really choppy...but I think 3dmark may just be screwed...anyway I am alittle less worried now...will wait and see what the final outcome is after I get the new system together with a fresh install.
Thanks for the comments guys...I really do appreciate it.
