Always in past history Intel was slightly higher than AMD. But now, Intel is hugely behind.

Maybe Intel will pull something like AMD did when AMD released it's 1Ghz processor a week before schedule. (or something like that, my memory of then was a little blurry)

Oh well, I still like Intel because of their ground breaking "Pentium" processor. Though AMD seems to be gaining the high ground now.
Can't intel see what? AMD may get a leg up IF many things occur. One major issues is if the processor gets alot of software support...i fear that win 2k3 64-bit will stay in beta through 2003 and into 2004 and this will hurt the 64 bit processors. It remains to be seen what intel will end up clocking the hammer processors at. If they can ramp up to the 2.4-2.5 ghz range I'd say intel could have some real competition. Right now though Hyperthreading just throws the competition in the trash. Intel's processors are already slightly faster in pretty much every benchmarks and WAY faster in a select few before even considering hyperthreading technology. Its really hard to justify with intels price cutting lately buying an amd cpu unless you want a budget 2100+ system overclocked (see sig.).

AMD has far from won much of any leg up on competition...a64's success remains to be seen.
