Did you take a look at the 3d demo? You could easily tell the difference there too.

Yeah, some people see things differently and aren't as sensitive to framerate differences. It's just like people who don't mind a 60Hz refresh rate or can't see ghosting on LCD. I can definately notice all 3 though.
I'm sensitive to FPS difference; play at 60Hz; but I only see ghosting when 2 nearly opposite colors move against eachother to fast. I did have a major problem with my LCD ghosting when I first got it, but I got used to it within about 1 week.

It would be better test if he rotated both images at the same speed. I'd also throw in a motion blurred animation of the same thing as well and run that at two speeds.

I just can't believe that some people can't see the difference. It is so readily apparent to me it's akin to looking at 2 different colors.
I wish I was happy at 30fps. It'd be a hell of a lot cheaper.

The flash demo is somewhat flawed, as it isn't quite a 1 to 2 ratio or they would both spin at the same speed. The FPS exe file that you can download is much better. I'm on my work computer so I can get anything above 60FPS. LOL! It would be interesting to see what having FPS beyond refresh rate, does if anything.

The one on the right is spinning slower and the one on the left is going faster. um...I think I missed the point.

I just tried that and there is actually a difference. I set the refresh rate at 72Hz, changed one side to 72fps and the other to 100fps. The side with 100fps doesn't "skip" spaces like the one at 72fps... strange if you ask me...

Nor can I, if I can't get 60fps in a game I wont play it, can't enjoy it... why play it?

The point is you saw the difference.

Think of it this way, both images should do one full rotation every second. If the one on the left is rotating at 30 fps, that means it would turn in 12 degree increments, 30 times every second (30x12=360). If the object on the right makes one revolution a second, at 60 FPS it would turn 6 degrees 60 times every second. So they both should make one revolution every second.

Back when 3dfx was speed-king (remember 16-bit color?), they put out something similar: it was a graphic of a 3d rendered ball bouncing at 30 and 60 fps. It looked worlds better than this one (yes, you can still tell the difference).
