And check out Yamaha RX series of A/V receivers. I have a Yamaha RX-V657. They have a device they call YPAO; It uses a microphone that you locate where you will be listening from and the receiver calibrates itself. Here is a review of the RX-V659 It’s no secret, I thoroughly enjoyed this receiver. This is one of the few times I’ve found a product that I didn’t expect more from. Instead I couldn’t help but to be in awe of the intelligent blend of bleeding edge features mixed with excellent performance typically found in the more esoteric brands. Over the past few years, we’ve seen the amplifier sections in Yamaha receivers continually improving via more robust power reserves, lower amplifier output impedance, better linearity, and lower noise floors. The RX-V659 is truly an overachiever delivering much MORE than rated power and not hiccupping on 4 ohm loads as one would expect of any receiver in this price class. If you have been riding the sea of receiver options for the last couple of months or so, your ship has come in. I can’t think of a finer receiver in this price class. Kudos to Yamaha on such a well engineered and well executed product.

FWIW, most decent receivers come with this capability now. The Onkyo I just set up last week had this and I got very familiar with the setup function since I was installing speakers and moving things around a bit at first. Just plug in the mike and it runs a couple test sounds through each speaker. It automatically sets delays based on distance and also frequency cutoffs depending on your speakers.

Everyone gets that way. May last turner was a Kenwood that lasted over 10 years as a main piece. I've just spent 4 weeks reading every review I could find in the sub-$1000 range, so I'm up to speed now. But 6 months from now? Eh, in the dark again.
