    I don't know about the "only kid in the WORLD," but he probably is the only kid in the developed world.

    Also, just use Meebo. http://www.meebo.com
    It's an AJAX IM client that runs from within a browser. Very nifty.

    Else, use GAIM on Windows/Linux and Adium on OS X.
