I think it will sell pretty fast at first and then people will realize there is nothing you can use it for. School kids will buy it instead of a laptop and then fumble around with the touch keyboard cursing under their breath. Disgruntled kindle buyers will purchase it and realize the screen sucks for reading.

IMO it is a romantic idea brought forth by the likes of mid century scifi writers but in reality a slate type computer interface is not the most efficient way for us to input. I feel that to be able to type efficiently I need to be able to use tactile feelings to keep me on track.

I don't necessarily agree with that. For me, the real problem is the OS. I think a $500 device with the functionality of the PADD from Star Trek is a great idea.

The OS just isn't there yet. There are rumors that iPhone OS 4.0 will be a complete overhaul, and likely not compatible with earlier generation iPhones.

So you agree that the iPad as it is now is a product that you think will fail.

No. It will fail with the tech crowd. For the mainstream, it's a toy and as a toy it seems pretty fun and worth $500. Surf the internet, watch a movie, play a game, etc.

It's well priced. It be hard for it to fail. Most of Apple's failures are a result of their high price.
