oh man, overclocking...?!
hello everyone,
You see, I plan to upgrade my system to a pentium III 800e (100mhz fsb); it is sopposedly better for overclocking. I just realized though, I don't have any idea what-so-ever on how to do it. First, I need a very good o/c mobo recommendation please. Also, if someone could give me a very good and very, very specific site on the basics through the advanced segments of overclocking, i would be greatly appreciated. It is extremely important that I totally blast my best friends' computer because he makes fun of mine so much (even though i do actually want a nice computer).
Thank you for your time.

The best option is 1:ASUS CUSL_II-C
2:Abit Se6
3:Abit SA6 Raid
4:Asus Cuv4x,P3v4x
5:Abit Bx 133 Raid
6:Asus Cubx 440
Those motherboards are put in order in the raport between quality and prices ,overclokcability and stability .
The sa6Raid abit is better than Se6 abit but more expensive so i put it in the III place .
The order it also depends on each one personality.

The easiest overclocking motherboard that I've encountered is the ASUS CUV4X, which I have, with that 800E chip.
On first boot, the BIOS asks you what speed you'd like to run the chip at. The list isn't in numerical order, but you have plenty of choices. For my (now old) OEM chip, I just chose to run at 126 Front Side Bus, and then bumped the voltage up to 1.75 (that's in another menu in the BIOS) and everything's run fine since.
I had nothing but nitpicking annoyances with the CUSL2. So many people have had no problems that I'm convinced this was a unique experience.
good luck, whichever you choose.

Just surfing around and read this website. Does it take extreme luck to get the oc possible with a cC0 700E PIII on a CUSL2? Here's the site... they overclocked the sucker to just a little over 1Ghz with normal air cooling via a good hsf (nothing with Peltiers or crazy stuff like that). Will the 800 overclock way past the 700? I mean, it doesn't seem like they had a lot of heat generated from the CPU - it seemed to have stayed within okay limits... but I guess what I'm asking is what are the pros and cons of oc a 700E vs an 800E... Here's the site:

Thanks for the input!!

They CUSL2 is the most stable intel board to o/c on. 1ghz out of a p3 700 is believeable.
It's no comprise o/c board it's not the easiest to work with.
