Is 42 degrees Celsius an acceptable temperature for an Athlon XP 1900+ CPU?

Currently my Athlon XP 1900+ CPU is running at 42 degrees Celsius. Is that ok? What is the highest is can go, still be stable, and not get damaged?

Also my system temperature is about 41 degrees Celsius. Is that ok? What is considered ok for system temperature?

Is that temperature under idle or load?? THose are some pretty high temps for a HSF like that Did you use arctic silver thermal grease , do you have any case fans?? The reason your CPU temps are so high is because your CPU temp will never be lower than your Case/system temp If you had some case fans your CPu temp would be much lower

BTW as long as your temp doesnt go over 60 C , youll be fine .

    Talking

42 is a good temperature. Just for grins leave the side of your case off and see if it runs much cooler--if it does you might need better case ventilation. Also, do run some processor intense applications and check the temperature then to see what a difference the load makes.
