    My ATA100 HDD by definition has burst speeds of 100MBytes/s

    However, it takes typically 2-3 minutes to copy a 600MB file (to and from the same drive). Copying from another drive (especially on another IDE channel) would be faster, but will never be even close to 100MBps sustained!

    The best for the consumer if you ask me. stable, fast, secure, affordable and probably the best drive you can get as of now for the money.

    Yes, from what I've heard, many people on this board use Maxtors and only a few have had problems.
