From Windows Explorer, right click on the drive you want to scan and select "Properties", next select the "Tools" tab and click on "Check Now..." under "Error Checking". Be sure to check "Automatically fix file system errors" and click "Start". You will be greeted with a propmt informing you that the check could not be performed because exclusive access to the drive could be obtained. You will also be asked if you would like to schedule the scan the next time your computer is restarted. If you answer "Yes" to this prompt and restart your system Scandisk will run before booting to Windows.
