Post read error on Drive D..!?

I o/ced my FSB to 103 (v. small o/c), and my 2nd hard drive (Maxtor ATA/66 5400rpm) gave me a read error when I got into Windows. I've had to repartition this drive already, to stop a whole bunch of read/write errors (I forget which one)..is there any connection between a 3mhz FSB o/c and a drive doing this, or should I just RMA the drive and hope for a better one?

Went back to 750, same problem. If I play an MP3 from the D drive, it plays for a second, then I get a blue screen saying it cannot read from drive D..but after I hit a key, it plays fine!

Sounds like that drive is getting ready to go down for the dirt nap.

Got o maxtors site and look for a diagnostic utility and run it.

Before you do, run a thorough scandisk and look for errors and fix them. If you see a bunch of bad clusters, its not a good thing.

Then run their diagnostic and see what you see. Maxtors got good warranties on their stuff. It's its going to dump on you, they should swap it out no problem.

I don't think your minor bump to 103 has anything to do with it. Most systems have a +/- 5 percent headroom and many will go 30-50 percent over before you smell smoke.

Report your results back here and maybe someone else wants a stab at it?
