Red face New WD 80gig SE slave HDD causing stuttering framerates?

Hi. I just installed a new WD 80gig SE harddrive as my slave drive and I'm using an IBM deathstar as my master. I've copied GTA3 and MAFIA to the new WD and after comparing them I noticed that the framerates are not as consistant as my IBM. They have quarter of a second stutters in the framerate. Does anyone know what is causing more stutters in the WD?

    Hi:

It's not a good ideal to have both active HDs on the same ide channel. I would put the WD on ide 2 Primary and see if that does not solve your problem.

Unfortunately, I've got a DVD-ROM and CD Writer in the other channel.

A hard drive shouldn't cause stuttering because it shouldn't be accessed at all during gameplay. Is the light blinking?
