Would lighted fans look good as front 80mm intakes behind a grill?
Would they show through the grill very well, you think. Note that they also have a filter. I don't want to take the filter off. I want some of those clear antecs with blue leds. Do you think they would look good through the grill & the filter?

with the filter on there, you're probably going to cut a good amount of the light, but some will still shine through. i've got hundreds of small holes in the front of my case and one of the antec 80mm blue LED fans behind it, and it's shows through well, but doesn't "glow" like the fan would if it were completely in the open as a blowhole.

This is my case -> http://www.newegg.com/app/Showimage....170-007-07.JPG As you can see it has pretty big holes. Do you think it would work well or would it be a waste to put lighted fans behind this and a filter?
Edit - I bought this case before it had the blow hole in the top. I don't like how they done the blow hole. It seems like the air would be restricted. It's still a great case.

haha, that's a cool case liquid, i just won that model in a LAN tournament so i'm proud of it =).. but I don't like the fans too much.. they seem weak to me.. so i pulled them out and replaced them with the stock Lian-LiPC68 ADDA's (my old case) the front two intakes (now speed controlled) and the blowhole are all ADDA's. =) I also got a red and blue neon light for my Quake 3 skillz =p.
Congratulations! Im sure you will like the case. I was the same way about the fans. Everything else is pretty much perfect. I was just afraid the fans wasn't putting out enough. Does changing the stock fans help? I am definately changing mine. I want the clear antec with blue led, lighted fans. I just hope they put out good enough.

those holes are pretty big, so even with some filter fabric (not those heavy duty mesh ones, you might not see much at all with those)over your fans you should still be able to see the light. the holes in the front of my case are much smaller than that, and when it's completely dark it still manages to cast some blue light outside of the case onto the desk. plus you've got that windo on the side, and to of those 80mm fans will shed some serious lite into the rest of the case, believe me...they're bright. i say go for it.

I heard that the antec fans shine as good as cold cathodes. Atleast thats what the reviews are on newegg for them. So they will probably shine through atleast a decent amount.
I do have the mesh type filter. I have never seen filter fabric. Do you think I would need to switch to that kind of filter for it to show through. I know it would look good if I didn't have a filter at all but I can't give up protection for asthetics. I get very little dust with the mesh type filter. If it came down to it I would rather just put the lighted fans as the rear exhausts and maybe the cpu. I don't know if I can give up my tt smartfan on my cpu though. I know I am putting lighted fans as the two rear exhausts. I wonder if I should get a cold cathode too. If I do I was thinking a green cc and the blue led fans. Overall what do you guys think would be best - lighted fans on the front or not, LF on the cpu or not, LF on the rear or not, or cold cathode or not? If yes on cold cathode then what color since the fans will be blue?
Edit - I could always do a little at a time and if I want more go for it, instead of doing it all at once and chancing dissappointment.

for now, i say grab yourself 1 or 2 of the blue antec ones and play around with them. since you said you'll be putting them in many different places, you can try them in the front and then if they don't work well move 'em to the back. and that way you'll also be able to see how bright they are, and make your decision on the cold cathode after that. personally i think that if you have 3 or more of those antec fans in there you're not gonna need the cathode

Good points; I think I will just do a little at a time so I don't go overboard and blow money. I can get a few like thebove said, try them out & if I want more, get them.

I have the same case, but mine is black, and yes you're right the fans are rather weak. I've not replaced mine though because my case still hovers around 34c. Even though the fans are sorta weak, there's enough of them in there to keep the air moving and low enough so there isn't a danger. Same, you are right about the blow hole being kind of restricting. Doesn't move a lot of air out the top, but just enough to keep the case cool. I'm not changing my fans out either because I kind of like a quiet case for once. My antec was like a jet engine, so this is sort of refreshing. I'm still able to o/c to 170fsb with this cooling setup, so I'm not concerened. I do love the case however. I dropped a blue CC in the bottom of it, so it lights up rather nicely.
The stock fans are quiet. And they do an adequate job. My case temps stay around 30 degrees and my cpu gets about 35-40 degrees. That's not bad, considering no blow hole. I mainly want to change mine for the antec lighted fans for looks. Maybe they will cool a little better also. I thought they only came in blue but now that I know they come in red and green also I may go with green. I wonder if the green are as bright as the blue?

I have an Antec Performance Plus 880 case with 3 Blue blinking LED fans in the front and at night they shine through the grill quite brightly. Two of the fans have a easily removable mesh filter in front of them, those 2 are a little dimmer but not that much.

I have that same case, but without the preinstalled windows. And I have Antec Blue LEDs in the front intake, but I just took off the dust gaurd and filter (I clean my case about every month anyway, and there isn't much dust to begin with), also removed the metal insert from behind the acrylic bezel and am going to cut the punched cut outs and then put in a couple of laser cut fan grills so all the light will be bright and be pretty . Here is an example of this case with Antec LED fans... VH Case This isn't my case, just similar... If I had a digital camera I would show you all my sexah case.
