    Talking remember me?

Ok, anyone here remember me thinking about an "extreme air-cooled system" that was pretty much a crap idea? Well, I've done a lot more thinking, and I not only realized that the idea would NOT work, as a few of you out there pointed out, but I also would hate all the noise (I don't really think that noise reduction matting would work on some thing that consists of a dozen high speed screechers)

Soooooooo, I was wondering, what is the BEST water cooled setup? It can be custom (different peices from different companies) or a whole setup. Right now I have my eye set on this: Swiftech Quiet Power Watercooled Case with MCW40

BUT I would like the BEST performance (yes, I know I already mentioned it ) While cooling the 1)CPU 2)VGA 3)and northbridge. I wouldn't mind being able to cool the HD either if possible.

    TIP:

I would love the best pump that pushes the MOST water, as I want this thing cool.

    Thanks in advance,

i was able to get great cooling with a low flow setup so you don't need the hugest gph pump to have the best cooling. see my sig link for the complete list of parts. it's just an option for ya, everyone likes something different.

A pre-assembled watercooling setup will not give you the best performance results. A "mix & match" setup would outperfrom any kit-system.

I'll do a quick search a see what I can scrap together component wise. Would you be interested in a watercooling/peltier setup?

I was thinking of that, but then there is that additional power supply (where do I store it) and the chance of condensation.

Also, I've seen your setup kenrippy, and it looks tempting (that tubular tank, and the NB and GPU cooler (also, is that a good Radiator? as I wouldn't mind tip top to keep the water cool.

the BIX is supposed to be the best "pc" rad on the market. some will say the heater cores are better but they can be huge and sometimes require 2 x 120mm fans.

actually, the link that I was looking at has a RAD that uses two 120mm fans

ick. i've seen that at fry's. they sell the kit, think it's swiftech. it's aluminum and SUPER thin and cheezy looking in person! stay away from that one IMO.

Cooling the HDD and NB in my opinion is unnecessary. Effective modified air cooling would be sufficient.

First off, I personally would use a T-piece and have a bleed/fill tube instead of a reservior.

    Components:
CPU WATERBLOCK(all with "1/2" fittings) - The Maze 3 or Swiftech's MCW462-U. All of the d-tek custom waterblocks I like do not have P4 tops yet.

GPU WATERBLOCK - Let me do alittle more searching on that one.

NB WATERBLOCK - Same as above...I've been away from the watercooling scene for afew monthes. Gotta find out what's new.

PUMP - Eheim 1250 or 1060. The 1250 would work just fine, the 1060 is alittle overboard. Not to mention it will take up a lot more space in your case and put more heat into the air/or water if your using a res.

RADIATOR - Cooler Core Combo from Dtekcustoms with an extra D-Tek Core Fan Shroud Kit. Personally I'd go with the heatercore over BIX. I bet you would notice a 2-4 C drop over the BIX. But then again, the BIX is purdy, small, and compact, so both have their respective advantages/disadvantages.

RADIATOR FAN - Two Panaflo High Output 103CFM fans

    TUBING- Tygon tubing R-3603 "1/2"ID

ACCESSORIES - Metal Worm-drive ring clamps or worm screw type.
    T-fitting for bleed/fill tube.

    WATER ADDITIVES -
    80 % De-ionised/distilled water / 15 % Car Anti-freeze / 5 % Redline "Water Wetter" This ratio can vary, alot.

As always, I've included Cathar's Watercooling FAQ for additional information and links to commercial watercooling websites.

Thanks pyro, I'll be waiting for those results on he GPU and NB blocks Also, do you know where I would be able to order/pick these up (I live in Canada )

    *EDIT*

BTW, I most likely won't be able to respond today, as I will be out for quite sometime.

It was simply a good ratio of effective thermal additives that Liquide and other watercooling gurus at madonion.com had recommended for a typical watercooled system. Water Wetter by itself is somewhat expensive, so I added antifreeze into the mix. Also because of its wide availability.

But Isezumi, theres so many variations its unbelievable!!!

    1. Distilled water/water wetter by itself is another favored combination.
    2. You could replace antifreeze with methanol. Though methanol is more suited for -Celsius degree temperatures.
    3. Some people even go all out and use 100% antifreeze. I would only recommend that for chillers though.

Why I prefer distilled water over tap? If you have a leak it might be conductive depending on the local minerals in your tap and theres a higher chance for non-organic and organic build up in you lines and pump requiring more maintenance on your part to keep it clean and flowing smooth.

Why a 15% anti freeze solution? Thats the typical amount needed to control corrosion in a water cooled system. Recommended by Colin.

Whats water wetter for? It acts as an anti-corrosive which will prevent your parts from oxidizing due to the battery effect and helps with surface tension. Its usually added to antifreeze to improve the heat transfer. 3-5% is the recommended dosage.

I chose to go with Purple Ice added to distilled water.

edit: btw Pyro, what hardware do you have in your w/c setup? you speak as if you have quite a bit of experience in this area.

None, seriously. I've been quite interested in watercooling/peltiers for awhile so I studied up. When the time comes to purchase my watercooling parts, which may never happen , I'll have a fair amount of knowledge under my belt.

I've followed the advice of well respected liquid, peltier/TEC, and vapor phase change gurus of other forums such as MrIcee, OPPAINTER, DDTUNG, Liquide, Cather, Colin, etc.

I hang around overclockers.com and frequently visit the forums. Some other sites include:
    Procooling.com
    icrontic.com
    overclockersforum.com
    madonion.com
    Pureoc.com
and all of the major commercial watercooling websites.

Also kenrippy, I must say that is one spiffy watercooling setup you got there. Very professional.

If I did something like his, is there anything that I could improve? or is the VGA and CPU cooler he has top of the line? (remember, not really a price issue, but rather quality and performance issue) I'd rather pay more to get more outta something for just a few degrees immprovement, as I want to push my upcoming system to kingdom kong (with out dry ice ) Just click on MY SYSTEM link in my sig, and look at the bottom one, that is what I'm planning on using this setup on.
