the water line on that res pictured above would be over the top of both tubes. (see my pics) it's just that the much smaller intake tube would allow any air bubbles to not be sucked back into the system. thus creating a SELF BLEEDING system. so if you have a res like this or similar you won't need any bleed tubes or anything like that. bleeding is another word for removing air.

T line
this pic is of a "T" line added to a system that doesn't have a res. this is used for a bleed/air gap instead of a res. the purpose of this is so the air will be trapped in the top of the T where it can't get into the main system. you just put a cap on the top of it and also fill your system from there. it's best to have the top of the T line near the top of the case.

so, if I do the tubular way, then there is pretty much no maintanance?

i don't see any maintenance either way. it's just harder to get all the bubbles out with the "t" setup. figure the water jetting by the "t" and some of the bubbles won't make it up the t-line because of the speed of the water. it will take longer to bleed the system that way. with a res like that tank-0-matic the bubbles bleed first pass thru.

why cheaper?
it pushes more water, and sounds good, am I still better off with the enheim (sp?)

from what everyone says, Eheim is the standard by which every other brand of pump is measured. reliability, noise, heat etc. but reliability being the most important.

Alot of people highly recommend the Via Aqua Pump. Its not a bad choice, but as kenrippy said "Eheim is the standard by which every other brand of pump is measured. reliability, noise, heat etc. but reliability being the most important."

sorry for bringing this thread back, but I just need to clarify a few more things
1) what tools do I use to mod the case?
2) any new parts coming out by Dec. or Jan. that I should worry about?
3) would it be possible to put the rad. in the hard drive rack at the top in the back and just drill a hole out of there, so the warm air travels out instead of through the case?

hey speed freak,
The one thing I see that needs some change is the rad air flow should be sucking fresh air in. not having case air going thru your rad. and it might get a bit warmer up near the psu it will be the warmest thing in your case. by the looks of your drawing, you might want to go with what I did. just a few thoughts....btw when are you gonna build this thing?

I was intending to put the radiator on my system above the PSU (In a Lian Li PC 70) and put two fans in front of the radiator and two fans behind (or something to that affect).
I can't use the space where the intake fans are since I will need that for hard disks. Any opinons / suggestions on that Kenrippy (or someone)?
