    Well, if their standard DHCP, etc. then I can recommend the SURFboard, model SB3100. Haven't had a drop out with it in over three months.

    Take a look at their list of approved brands/models. The 'best' is the Toshiba - can't recall the model # now, but do a search for cable modem reviews/shootouts and you should be able to find some info.

    I ended up just buying their Terayon from them for like 90 bucks and it's been working just fine.

    Toshiba makes a good modem. I've used their PCX1100U for a while now, no complaints. You might want to look into the newer PCX2200 model.

    I have the Toshiba 1000u also, and have not had a days trouble out of it.

    They are all the same if the meet the DOCSIS standard. That means that they are all capable of the same max transmit speeds, and design wise they are almost all identical. Shop on price.
