Scanner help, PLEASE

I'm not sure if this is where this belongs but here goes. I have about $150.00 to spend on a photo scanner. I need one that will work with slides and hopefully it does a good job. I have some old slides that need to captured on CD having to do with family stuff.

I have an Artec Scanrom 4E that doesn't work and never worked that well.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

My uncle has the same one and it works beautifully for slides and 35mm negatives.
