Thumbs up Opinion on Good monitor for $400 or less CRT or Flat

    Hey Guy's and Gal's
I'm down to the last few items for building my new rig.
I need opinons on 19-in. CRT monitors or Flats in the range of $400.00 or Less including S&H for 33406 mail zone.
So far Sony cpd-g420s (Black or Gray prefered color) from provantage.com is looking good. I have done some finger work but the reviews (I have found) are to wishie/washie. I need cold hard facts, black and white answers. Like I own it, I Love IT!!! Can't beat it for the Quality/price.
I would like a few more monitors to pick from though.
I'll have a Radeon 9500 or 9700 card when I can find a good price on one of those "in stock".
I will be useing this computer for a long time and doing all kinds of
different things with it. Not just OCing, games (flying Sims) or surfing but some TV/DVD, and photo play (editing) too.
I don't need TOP of Line but want a "DARN GOOD ONE" for the money, like we all do.
Thanks in advance for your advice. .

Edit: Update Here are some more I've found today as I had time to do more looking (stayed home sick cough, cough, hack, hack ect..)
    Sony E440B
    Sony G410S
    NEC-DP-920
    NEC FE-900
    Viewsonic P-95F
    Any advice on these units?

It's kind of old(ish), but the Samsung SyncMaster 900nf is still really solid. I have one

I bought it from EMS a year and a half ago and it's still good... Plus it's only $325 with free ground shipping.

in one of the threads on this page, someone talks about used "A grade" 21' monitors, see if you ca snag one of the Viewsonic 21" "P" series monitors, they're professional CAD grade monitors, and if they're used and in good shape, they'll last for years...

I own a Sony G420S It came perfectly aligned, color, sizing, convergence, everything (first ever for me) all I did was change the resolution and refresh, hit the auto-resize and presto, perfect sizing! I run at 1024x768 (old eyes plus glasses, lol) at 100hz refresh and I couldn't be happier. I had a 15" Sony years ago and had forgotten how good they are. My HIGHSET recommendation!!!! All you have to do to prove it to yourself how good they are is to put it next to ANYTHING else and compare.

I'd also say go check the Samsung 900NF. If I needed a new monitor, it's the one I would get. Go check the specs.

Mits. DP900u. I had one for 3 years and I just upgraded to the Mits. 2070SB (22"). I'm not sure if you can still find them, but they were kind of expensive ($700), but that was 3 years ago.

Smile This thread is now closed Information only

I want to thank everyone that had expressed an opinon on the monitor that they liked. Thanks...
I have now bought MY NEW SONY G420S 19" from Newegg.com. Free shipping too. I also treated myself to a Leadtek TV-2000 deluxe PCI card. Free shipping on it also.
    Newegg.com you're the best..
I have done a lot of reading, research and asked alot of nice people at this forum and the two choices for ME were Sony G420S and the Samsung 900-NF. It took almost a week to decide but the Sony won out.
    Thanks again everyone.
I'll leave this thread here just for informational purposes.
Now on to buy the rest of my NEW Rig.
Four more items to go. CDRW,OS,Video-card and Modem.

Newegg is the best. When i ordered my Winfast TV 2000 XP I just ordered the plain one that was the cheapest and they decided to send me a deluxe version. Happy I was.

I was going to comment on how much I love my Sony 19" G420s. But I just started to have problems with it today. Almost a year later after I had bought it. I don’t think it is a monitor problem. I think maybe my switch box might be going? I need to test some more things before I can make a decision.
