How can I install Nvidia detonator files on a video card that came with a Compaq?
I've got a TNT2 Ultra that came with a compaq my dad bought 2 years ago. I wanted to install detonator files before but got a message that they weren't compatible or something. I KNOW it's a TNT2 Ultra because I opened the box and looke in. The compaq people have mentioned to me before that they put in the stuff that is designed for Compaq brands. But I still need to install detonator files to see at least some improvement in graphics!!! Please help!!!!

You may also need to perform a clean install of Windows without all the Compaq bumph that goes on there, not sure whether you've ever done that. Compaq load all kinds of stuff on there that you don't need. I reinstalled Windows for a friend on his Compaq laptop, removing all the 'extras' and all was good.
However, this is a desperate measure. You could first try:
Look in the add/remove software in the control panel and see if any video drivers are listed there. Remove them that way and reboot. The computer should then find a 'standard VGA adapter' and install the files for it. Subsequently, try and install the detonators. If there's no entry in 'add/remove software, you could perhaps try and change the device driver to standard VGA in the device manager, although I'm not entirely sure whether this is good practice.
Good luck. The detonators should be worth the effort.
