Can a send this Ti4200 Back to gainward???
heres a stange problem.
i am in pakistan right now.
my brother recently sent me a gF 4 ti4200 from gainward from googlegear in america.
the ultra xp 650 128mb,
this is the model that is flawed and seometimes starts flashing weird patterns and colors while playing games.
i thought i was going to be stuck with it because i had no way to send it back to america.
i just found out that im going in in a month and i want to take the card with me and get it replaced.
here another possible problem, i tok off the hsf and applied as3 to the card.
now my question is, can i call up gainward when i get home, and tell them to send me a replacement, its warantied for 3 years, but will they actually look under the hsf and see if i changed the thermal paste.
ill be home for 5 weeks from the middle of march. will i be able to get a replacement from gainward it that time.
what should i do?
thanks

Another imfamous Gainward 4200. Had two bad ones myself.
ANyway, might be faster to try an RMA thru googlegear themselves. Call them so you get a live person and explain the situation. Being in the military during these times they should bend to your needs

I RMA my bad card to Gainward, AMDforums has a giant thread on this, its a problem with one of the caps at the top of the card, its not big enough. I got my shipped free both ways, got a replace (in two weeks) and no PSOD (pink screen of death) yet. Only Gainward USA, admits to the problem. I live in NC, so I have idea how they handle overseas. So like Saps said I'd call googlegear, see what they say. If they are no help try Gainward. I can almost hear the yelling of spam, spam. Got to amdforums, they have more details the I can post here, 80 long pages. First post is all you need to read.
Was there a bad batch of Gainward Geforce 4 Ti4200's? I own the
Golden Sample 128MB version. Haven't had any problems with it yet. Can you guys link me to an article or review that talks about the issues some of these cards were having? Thanks.

well, im not going back home until middle or late march.
i think i got this card in december, would i still be able to RMA at googlegear when i get home???
or will i have to go straight to gainward usa.
the pink screen of death and the blotched screen doesnt happen all the time, but it does happen enough to make me want a replacement.
and im assuming that it doesnt matter that i took off the old thermal paste and applied the as3.
Here another thing, i got this card at googelgear for around $173, would i be able to just return it and get a 9500 pro instead. that would be so much better.
anyway, i hope this all works out, with the return and 9500 pro that is.

ok, it turns out that googlegear only rma's for 30 days, so that chance is over, and the whole chagne for a 9500 pro idea is also gone.
i guess i have to contact gainward directly and tell them my problem and them them to replcae my card.
