I have been reading about it and it seems comparing it to the 9500pro, that they are giving away quality for speed. It has 4 pipelines and 2 engines compared to the 9500pro`s 8 pipelines and 4 engines. The 9600pro is to be clocked at 400/600 to the 9500pro being 275/540. So I guess this is going to be a faster video card and have the quality of a 9100. I was wondering wouldn`t the 9500pro still be the best buy.

The quality between the two should be the same, as they both are DX9. All the pipeline config does is determine how they achieve their performance...it has nothing to do with quality.
In a game a 4x1 card SHOULD perform the same as an 8x1 clocked half as fast. Since the 9600 isn't quite clocked twice as fast...it should be a bit slower(unless core tweaks and optimizations can bridge that gap). The 9600 GPU is much cheaper for ATI to produce and should perform very similarly to the 9500, that's why you see it, not to be a better deal for us but for ATI. The 9500 likely will be a better buy while they last.
So you are saying that with AA/AF turned up it will perform just as good as a 9500pro.

It may not be available yet but its specifications are on ATI`s website, that is what I am going by.

Except for the fact that it is on a new core and clocked higher, it does compare closer to a 9500np.

This is essnetially what I'm waiting for in deciding 9500 vs 9600. I'm waiting for the 9600 to come out for 2 reasons - to decide which one performs better, taking into account overclockability and quality vs non quality performance, so I'm hoping for some good in depth reviews on the sites. And 2) if I do decide to get the 9500, the presence of the 9600 MIGHT drive the prices down a tad bit for the 9500.
Anyone got any word on a concrete release date for the 9600? I was hearing end of march, but I guess that's out the window now.
