What DVD player do you use?
Just got a my first DVD drive, and was wondering if I should bother with the bundled player or is Window's media player pretty much the same thing?

What software bundle did you get and what DVD-ROM? I use InterVideo WinDVD 4.

Its the Lite-On came with PowerDVD

It's PowerDVD XP for me... I'd say use this over Windows Media Player any day.

I agree. If you've got Power DVD use it.

I use both PowerDVD and WinDVD.
I don't use MS Windows Media Player for anything. It isn't even installed.

I use PowerDVD also.
MS Media Player 9 for CDs and Microsoft content such as .wma and .wmv
My DVD hardware is a Lite-On DVD-ROM even though I later found out that it was a poor choice.

IMO, PowerDVD's picture is sharper. So you tend to see more grain and other artifacts that are part of the dvd itself. So bad IQ or not you see everything. IMO WINDVD's picture appears much softer compared to PowerDVD, which can be good for some dvd's. I use PowerDVD mainly because the interface is so much better. Give them both a try and see what prefer. They're both good programs.
