A router has no direct wireless connectivity.

Crash Test Dummy
An access point connects wireless clients to a local area network (LAN). A router connects a LAN to a wide area network, such as the Internet.
Consumer broadband routers are actually combination devices. Most non-wireless broadband routers are actually routers and a switch in the same plastic housing. Wireless broadband routers are a router and switch plus an access point in the same housing.
Standalone access points often have a few features not found in wireless routers, like wireless bridging, which lets you connect one access point to another to connect two networks or extend your wireless range.
