Best UT2k4 MODs / Mutators
Boy do I love my new PC! I've maxed out everything but my AA and AF and it runs pretty damn smooth (on UT2k4, that is). Farcry is a different story, of course
I love UT2k4 right now. In about 1 month I'm moving somewhere that I can get cable internet again (right now only have 28k dialup!!). I'm wondering, what are some of the best Mods and mutators out right now? Anything solid?
I really like tactical mods, and/or ones that use modern-day weapons... or should I say, more realistic. Stock weaposn are great, as are the Onslaught additions, but sometimes it's cool to tone it down and keep it more simple. Anything like that out / in development at this time?
On a side note.. anybody do mapping for UT? If anybody knows where to find some good tutorials on how to use the Unreal Editor, gimmie a heads up. I've never mapped before, but I've been playing FPS for most of my 20 years of life and figure I should give it a shot. Even if I'm the only one that likes my maps!

glad you made this thread, because I actually signed online to make it. I know pointless does some mapping. There are some good tutorials that were released on the DVD edition, not sure if they are available onine though.

I've yet to tire of the "stock" game.

Cool, thanks for the links to the mapping tutorials. I'll be sure to check them out, as well as the mod pages.
UT2k4 is great stock, although online is always better because there's something more satisfying about fragging somebody when it's human intelligence and not AI.
Right now I've had a lot of fun w/ the 'stock' stuff. Last night I tried 2 vs 2 TDM, with vampire and regeneration on. I threw in quad jump for good measure, a few hours later and I still wasn't bored.
What's the highest difficulty anybody can consistently own the bots on? I'm peaking out on Adept, haven't tried higher yet but I'm certain that only death awaits.

epic does "bonus packs" now and then, but with umod its really easy to install a 3rd party mod.

umod is like the tool that mod users use to install their mods...think of it like winzip for ut2k4 mods...

Nerdy.......AND sexy
thanks for the info pointless - I really hope someone does a realistic mod for UT 2004, something along the lines of a counter-terrorist/terrorist theme . I really like "desert combat" for BF 1942. I'd love to see something like that !

I like remote srtrike a lot. It's great, it replaces all the weapons with guns like a machine gun, mortar, nades and etc. It's better than the guns in ut2k4 imo. In the mod the guns actually have recoil and stuff. Another cool thing is that I think with one of the guns you can alter the landscape by putting craters in the ground kinda like in red faction. Pretty cool stuff. The only bad thing is that there aren't any servers for this mod yet so you have to play with bots. There's also another mod for ut2k4 called Deathball but I think it's pretty dumb.

UT2004 is great as it is... I dont want anymore stupid Desert Combat mods
I NEVER understand why a mod team would make one game look like another... Like the people who is modding UT2004 to look like CounterStrike... Can we say dumb?
If you want CS, then play CS...
I never understand that.

maybe people are really tired of playing cs on that dated hl engine. Can you understand that? Their hasn't been a really good game that has passed by to replace it. Anyways I don't see why ut is so great the way it is. It seems like an incredibly mindless shooter. I thought it was awesome and all for like a week and than it just lost its appeal. I really like remote strike cuz the game doesn't seem so mindless with this little mod. The guns have recoil and require more articulation and concentration than the stock ut guns. The stock guns you just spray away and imo that gets a little boring after a while.
