stay away form this by all means i got it today and i was so dissapointed sierra/vivendi has just taken a **** in a box and charged you 90 bucks
first, off the t-shirt (black in color) is nothing more than the hl2 logo (grey) on the front next to the collar, it is ruffly the size of a closed fist. where is my image of gordan or g-man or anything this is ********
second: the "prima" book with more than a 100 pgs of art and walkthrough is the size of a pamphlet with a 100 pages of "squintable" images it should have been the size of a real magazine how am i suppossed to enjoy or even read this crap
3rd: then lets talk about the bonus games i didnt get mine, did you?
no cs:source, no hl:source, it wasnt on the dvd installation for hl2 and theres no mention of even a steam account (although i bought the retail version because i want a physical copy of everything) so whats the deal the big flashy box is 90 dollars worth of air and has enough contents to generate a rattling sound barley did i pay for this becuase i wanted 5 bucks worth of crap i remember reading interviews with the publisits promising a leather covered game box for the high paying enthusiast, well now i am a high sueing enthusiest
i want my money back **** you sierra **** you steam **** especially **** you vivendi i know this is your fualt and thank you valve at least i know the game will be good (that is untill i install it and find it bug ridden and the game play weak, oh i cant wait for that!, wait for my update i hope im wrong about that. as if nothing else can go wrong)
I was going to buy the CE today at lunch, mainly for HL: Source, but after reading that it wasn't anything special, I decided to go with the normal version of the game and save $25.
When I went to pick the game up at EB Games, I noticed that they had some white t-shirts behind the counter with the HL2 logo. Wouldn't you know, the guy put one in my bag. So I sort of got the unoffical CE minus HL: Source, not bad for $58 and some change, although I should have ordered the Silver package off of Steam for a buck more.

well thats cool that u got a shirt for the normal price. i would have bought the gold steam package if it came with a dvd copy. tho it doesnt really seem to matter having a physical copy because it all is running through steam....
I really wish I would've read this before hand . I caved in and bought the CE and it really isn't anything special. I feel completely ripped off. I had store credit for $32 so it came out to be about the same as the regular. Still though, the booklet is so damn small and the t-shirt is pretty lame as well. The only saving grace is the extra game and the fact that it's on a single DVD.

It's definately no WarCraft 3 Collector's Edition. But hell, I would have paid an extra $10 to have it on DVD verses CD, and it come with a cheap tee-shirt and a strategy guide. But basically it is a ripoff. I wonder about the box quality of the Gold version from Steam?
Yeah, I had the collectors edition pre-ordered and paid for until I actually saw what was inside it yesterday. I really only wanted the art book and HL: source, and when I saw the "art book" was a little pamphlet I quickly changed my order.

Yep, Your right a complete rip off. I ordered mine from EB games can I send it back for a refund?
you can probably give it back to them and then they exchange it for the non collectors edition...and in turn put the difference in money in store credit...but since it's a pc game who knows...I know you can do that for console games...

one thing that eol failed to mention here is that he ordered the game from EBGames and that Sierra doesn't publish the game anymore, Vivendi does it now ...
Sierra got nothing on Valve now XD
