    Post your HTPC specs/setup here....

Gotta get some posts going in this forum, so heres one....Tell us about your HTPC setup. Hardware, software....whats it's connected to etc. Post pics of your setup as well (if you have them)

    Here's mine:

    AMD Athlon XP 2500+
    Asus A7N8X-X
    512MB PC-3200 DDR
    Geforce 4 Ti4200 128MB
    Chaintech AV-710
    WD 80GB SE HDD
    Liteon DVD
    Antec Mid Tower (Black)
Liteon IR wireless Keyboard/pointer (only $17, love it!!)
Snapstream Firefly Remote & Beyond Media
Sonic DVD Decoders w/ Zoomplayer Pro (DVD Playback)
    Winamp (For music playback)

VGA out to a BenQ PB6100 DLP Projector
Optical out to Onkyo HT760 system

The Firefly remote is the best $45 I ever spent on my HTPC. It'll work with so many apps out of the box and comes with a basic but very nice front end software package. It's RF and has a range of at least 30ft. I can't recommend it enough.

Not a full fledged HTPC but I use it to watch DVD-rip xvid/divx files, listen to mp3's, and have played GTA3 on it.

    P3 1ghz
    Ti4600 (using S-video out)
    512mb RAM
    Audigy 2 (using coax out)
    Zoomplayer
    Foobar2000
    TVTool for TV settings
    Logitech Z560's (with HT sats)
    Monsoon PM14's

Panasonic 32" GAOO aka Superflat (not really flat)
    Yamaha RX-V795
    Toshiba SD-2700 dvd player
    Mirage AVS-500
    Mirage FRX-S10 sub

    Let me see...

    Antec Overture Case (380w PSU)
    AMD XP 1800+ (still enough)
    ECS K7S5A
    40GB Seagate Barracuda
    40GB WD
    512MB PC2100
    HP 200i DVD+R
    Pioneer 16x DVD-ROM
    ATI 8500PRO 64MB
Maddog 7.1 Audio - Via Envy
    AverTech TV Studio Pro
    D-Link (g) Wireless PCI

Klipsch Pro Media Ultra 5.1 Speakers
    Creative DDTS-100 Digital Decoder
    Motorola 6200 HDTV Decoder

    Samsung 30" WS HDTV
Audio Authority VGA -> Component Transcoder

It is aging, but still more that enough for normal HTPC tasks. I also have another Comcast 6200 HDTV Decoder hooked upto my main PC and an older 19" monitor that I now use as an HDTV. I guess you could call this a reverse HTPC.

Maybe I will get around to taking some picture soon.

    Soup...

Take those towels off your components. You are smothering them to death.

Hehe...they don't get very warm and it keeps the dust out.

The pictures make them look like thick towels but they're just thin hand towels.

I would still be careful. Let the reciever breath at least, the amps in there can really heat up. Put the CD player (silver box) on top of the reciever, then put a towel on the cooler CD player. Both will be covered. You will also recover some space on the shelve.

Nice stack O' subs you got there soup. How are those hooked up? I would still consider that a full fledged HTPC, just not a dedicated one. Nice Mirage setup BTW. I was actually suprised at the sound from the HT760 speakers, not bad at all for a HTIB. The receiver is excellent but I will want to upgrade my speakers sooner or later.

I guess you can say my main computer is also a HTPC as it's my TV, stereo, DVD player, game machine. nothing special for software, just WinfastPVR, foobar and PowerDVD

Everyone always has a better setup than me

I love when people say.. "It's only a P4 2.4 but it runs Divx ok.."

    Well I'm running a P3 933 on 256MB with an 8gig HD. SWEET!

Amazingly I can stream movies from my main PC with no problems at all. I was using it as a PVR but I had to reinstall everything after my old board went bad.

I've got pics but they're on my site..

Check out the MediaPC in the Project/mods section if your interested.

Does it count as a HTPC if your running a 32" LCDTV as a monitor? If so I have 2 htpc's right now. The htpc htpc in the living room is connected to a 47" RPTV. I'm not really using it much except for some streaming and DVD. I'm using the HD-DVRs from Timewarner more now.
