    Loading XP question

Here is the deal, trying to load XP on the compaq presario 4850. This is causing the old cannot load missing ntloader error. win 98 or 95 load with no problem. BIOS is flashed to the latest, partition commander had been tried, Compaq says there is nothing that should stop XP from loading. I am looking for ideas at this point, can anybody help.....?

    Take out any OC.

Make sure the required files - ntldr, ntdetect.com and boot.ini are in the root of the boot drive.

Well as usual, when you dont get to see the machine yourself something the person tells you is incorrect. I was told the bios was up to date because he did not think that could be the problem. I had him run DBAN on the disk and wipe out any partitions that could be remaining on the drive. The install still would not work so there was nothing left but the bios flash at this point. I think it will work after the flash. Thanks for the input once again..........
