What advantages is the new winxp 64?
This may already be here somewhere but i havent found it.From what i hear from a friend is the new Winxp pro 64 edition will only be an advantage if you have the newest 64fx version cpu chip and msi mb's and the new vga cards like the x800's and Nvidea 6800 cards.Does the new Win xp64 have an advantage with the set up i have > a 64/3200 cpu but just the old 9800pro vga card.IS it worth the cash to buy or not?

It depends what you want from it, there are various advantages to running XP64, this is a good article looking at the benefits:
Alienware Aurora R4 (i7 3930K), Dell Studio XPS (i7 940), XPS M1330, Studio XPS 1640 (RGB LED 1080p), XPS M1730, Sony UX1XN, TX1HP, Lenovo X200
From what i hear from a friend is the new Winxp pro 64 edition will only be an advantage if you have the newest 64fx version cpu chip
--That is not true. It will work with ANY Athlon 64 CPU.
and msi mb's
--Not true either. It will work with ANY Athlon 64 motherboard.
and the new vga cards like the x800's and Nvidea 6800 cards
--You guessed it, untrue. It would work fine with your 9800.
Don't take this the wrong way, but your friend has no clue what he's talking about. That said, wait on WinXP64 because there is still a limited selection of drivers and there are still some software compatibility issues. There are also very few performance gains from using it; more often than not, performance can drop by a bit until drivers and software are rewritten for it. WinXP64 is not (currently) something for use by a novice (or even many pros).
