    How To Remove Dell Case

    I have a Dell Dimension 4700, and i need to remove the case to install a dvdrw drive. I noticed on the back there are 6 screws but they all have a small circle in them. What tool will i need to get these screws out and where can i find it?

    A 4700 should just have the two big screws that you can undo by hand and then pull the lever thingy and the side comes off. Maybe it doesn't even have the two big screws. You definately shouldn't have to take out 6.

    well then you'll have no choice but to let the drive rest at the bottom of the Drive cage. Don't rattle it about too much.

    I just installed a DVDRW into my 4700 -- there is no need to remove the other side panel. Remove the case side (lift the plastic 'L' on the back of the case; the side comes right off). Facing the front of the case, look to the left side of the front panel. There should be two (IIRC) clips. Push on them, and the case front will swing out towards you, and then detach from the right side of the case.

    I love the case on my 4700 -- it's the easiest to work with that I've seen yet.

    yep;
    once you get one side off, the other side pops right off - the only thing holding it on are 2 retainer clips (self latching) located along the vertical front-edge of the case. Gently use your fingers ora screwdriver to push in (depress) the clips, so the side pops off
