    Sharing files across the network with simple file sharing disabled.

    Ok, how can I give permission to OTHERPC\User to access files on my system? I assumed all other PCs on the network would be listed when I pressed "Locations" on the share dialog.

    I'd rather keep simple file sharing enabled on the other PC. But i want to give a user on that pc access to a directory on my computer.
    Both PC's are using WinXP Pro.
    How can I do this?

    At the moment it asks for a username and password.

    They need a userID/password on your system.
