A friend of mine wants an agp card for his older Dell system. What is a decent card for less than $100.00?

If your friend has just a little more money get this.

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102730

It is the best and fastest he can get in AGP.

What's the spec on that Dell system? What's the main purpose of that rig? If it's gaming, what res do you run it at? Mr Ginn's right about the 3850 though, it's the absolute best AGP card out now, can even handle most newer games at reasonable setting and res.

I have an ATi Radeon 850XL All in Wonder with a Zalman 900 fan if your friend is interested.

Decent AGP card for gaming with built in TV functionality. Was planning on eBay'ing for $100.

I am having him bring the computer to me to look at before I order anything. I have a feeling he has the stock powersupply in it. If that is the case I'm sure it is not powerful enough for the 3850.

I will post again once I get all the specs on the computer and the power supply.

I ordered this for him: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814131136

I know it isn't the best AGP card available but it should be fine for him. His powersupply is only 250 watts so I am going to install a 400 watt one that I have at home just to be safe.

Should be fine, I have an AGP X1650Pro (with Cat8.10) in my surfing rig and it's perfect, no BSOD or issue whatsoever. 'Course I don't play games many games with it (only demos) and it's fine so far. The 2400XT is a nice bit faster than my X1650Pro so your friend should be good to go. BTW, I hope you're getting him a decent PSU and not some cheap generic stuff.....

I have an Antec 450 watt power supply that came with my Sonata II case. I had a more powerful power supply hanging when I built the pc in my sig so installed that and removed the Antec 450. I also have a generic 300 watt power supply.

I will use the generic 300 watt if that will be powerful enough. That has to be better than the stock Dell 250 watt he currently has. If you guys don't think it will be powerful enough then I will install the 450 watt Antec instead. He only has 1 dvd drive, 1 hard drive, 1 fan, 1 stick of 1gb pc2100 ram, and no PCI cards.
