    Dell 3007WFP Pictorial (vs. 2405FPW)

My Dell 3007WFP arrived while I was at work today. Ordered it last Thursday, got it today.

Compared to the 2405 FPW box (that Terry still has kickin around)

    Comparing again

    Opening it up

    First glimpse of the monitor

The box comes apart in a really cool way! some weird plastic clips keeping two parts of it together.

Hmm.. Good packaging I guess, if it took the damage and not the monitor.

    Almost out of the box

    Front on, 2560x1600... yum

    Side view vs the 24"

    Peek-a-boo!

    Look at that nice stand!

The stand is pretty awesome. Too bad it doesn't pivot

Look at the ports. Not as many as the 24" :|

Here is a video showing the lag on the 2405 compared to the 3007.

    Video

The 3007 feels *MUCH* snappier in CSS. I immediately felt the difference and went 15-2 on cs_italy for the 15 minutes I played it for.

Very impressive monitor. You need to work on your case modding skills though.

Too poor to buy a case now!

j/k. My P180 is under my desk. Computer is out on the table because of some hardware changes/testing I was doing.

I'm still grinning because of the size of this monitor...

Look, my REAL hands are as big as the ones in CS!

As a side note, I can now run CSS @ 1280x800, 16X AF, 6X AA.

    Hi,
Are these shots at 1280x800 or is this the native res?
How does it look at 1280x800 in games, could you please post a picture where I can see the quality?

Are there any other major problems with this display or is everything fine? Does it show the BIOS Screen?
    Thanks for your inputs....

That is at 1280x800, 16X AF, 6X AA
BIOS screen shows fine without any problems.

My 2405FPW sometimes gets confused and squishes things horizontally when I reboot. It usually fixes itself by the time it gets to Windows (if no drivers are installed).

    OK, thanks.
So it looks really good at that res! Good to hear!
Could you please write a little feedback how it is to play at that res? Image Quality, sharpness and so on...
    thx.

Awesome monitor......think I may just get one later on this year. My present monitor will be related to HTPC/2nd game rig together with my present rig. Gosh, gonna have to start from scratch.....and it's gonna cost an arm and a leg, but after seeing these pics, I think it worth it. One thing's holding me back though, and that's the native res of the Dell......only X-Fire/SLi rigs can do those insane numbers, I'd prefer to run a single card........shouldn't be a problem if dual core GPUs become the norm in the future.

groutyzoob, you're doin' 1280x800? That's exactly half of the native res of the 3007WFP, it still looks good coz there's no interpolation, right? I run games on my Benq 30" LCD TV/monitor @1280x768 (very close to yours in terms of res) and I'm very happy with the IQ, 'course my Ultra isn't a match for your X1800XL, so my eye candy's lower....still looks sweet though.

I'm only going to run native res in OLD games (if it supports), or desktop.

You are correct, 1280x800 looks great since it is 2:1. I just tried 1920x1200 and it looked fuzzy.

Gaming is actually FUN again. I don't need to push insane resolutions (1920x1200..ahem 2405FPW), and I don't need to upgrade my video card for the time being. Spent most of last night playing CSS. I can definately feel a difference in terms of input lag. The shadowy/dark areas in the game are difficult to see, and flash bangs hurt my REAL eyes. Soo much white. D:
