If you look at the 10th-11th picture from the start of the thread, you see a shelf with change on it, hehehehe thats what Zoom has left eat with for the rest of the year after buying the monitor :-P

    Sweet Display,

as for the 2405 that someone mentioned wanting to get rid of, how much are you selling for?

Where'd you get it for that price then? Dell's asking $2,200 CAD before taxes! I'd totally nab one for $1,600.

Dell.ca usually has "10 days of deals" every couple of months. For one day only, the 24" and 30" monitors are on sale. Near X-mas last year there was a sale and the middle of Jan had another sale.

    24" was $900CAN
    30" was $1600CAN

Keep any eye out at www.redflagdeals.com (go to forums) to see when the deals occur.

theres supposedly input lag on the 2405

also the native resolution of the 2405 doesnt allow you to really take advantage of a lower non-interpolated resolution... you either need a monster video card to run the latest games or just deal with interpolation/borders

the 30" however can run in 1280x800 without interpolation... imho a pefect gaming rees for the balance between iq and speed

I agree with you on all counts, especially the last part! Running @1280x768, max detail, 4xAA/8xAF (or 2xAA/4xAF for certain games) looks pretty good. If I had a more powerful card, I'd prolly up the eye candy even more.....

I haven't noticed any of the input lag personally, and I'm coming from a Diamondtron 22" which is one of the better CRT's. Maybe only a handful of 2405's have this bug?

And yeah I can see how 1920x1200 might be a bit much for some people to run confortably. I'm sure I'll run into that problem as well someday, but luckily enough my 7800 GTX performs well in enough in all the games I play at that res.

Well, obviously you haven't tried FEAR.....@1920x1200, it'll bring your GTX to its knees.

I never bought FEAR, but I played the demo and my GTX did a good job running it smoothly @ 1920x1200...I even put up some cool Fraps videos when the demo came out . But thats not saying much, for all I know they changed alot for the retail release of FEAR.

But thats another topic, grats on your new monitor. Honestly I think it would be too big for comfortable gaming, hell my eyes already have to do alot of wandering side to side to get the whole view of my 2405 in FPS games, can't imagine how it would be on a 30" screen.

It plays just fine. A little stuttery if you only have 1gb of ram. I can even maintain over 25fps with 2xAA/16xAF enabled at 1920x1200. Thats on an X1800XT.

@ ImaNihilist: Actual resolution is 1920x540, however effective resolution is still 1920x1080... I'd rather not get into the technical details :P

@ ewitte: Don't you wish... haha.

@ Sunday Ironfoot: The 3007WFP cannot do portrait mode. However, the vertical resolution of 1600 is greater than most regular LCD's (17"/19" being 1280 when in portrait)

@ offtone: soupnazi got it dead on.

@ Gar: MANY 2405FPW users have reported input lag. Not every user is sensitive enough to feel/see it. 30" is great for gaming. Although I tried playing HL2 for a bit and I felt motion-sickness... dunno if that's because I already AM sick (caught a bad cold last week).

@ Terry: My change is all Loonies and quarters for laundry... not for spending on chips.

@ rabidmoose171 / Anyone interested in purchasing: Shipping would likely kill the deal. For reference, I'm looking for about $1000 shipped (Losing a smooth ~$300 on it.. yar)

    AND! For the patient.

30" on the right, 24" on the left. So tiny! Terry's SD100 causing the chromatic aberration....

Whoa! Thanks for the sidebyside pc Zoob. Is that a binary clock I see?

Yup, I've read about the input lag as well. They said it's probably due to the overdrive circuit (to speed up response times of MVA/PVA panels) Increasing the refresh rate to 100hz has been a consistent solution to fool the overdrive but this may put your monitor at risk. (max rate is 60hz) At first I noticed the lag a little in CS but now I don't even notice it at all. (must have gotten used to it)

One thing I find is at 60hz, the mouse cursor is a little chopping when moving it around on the windows desktop. (in comparision to my CRT at 100hz)
