    .net framework differences?

okay i know what the .net frameworks do but is it necessary to install 1.1 if you have 2.0 installed? because i have 2 installed but 1.1 still appears in the windows update list.

If you know what the .Net Framework does, then you would know why they are both there. Anything that was written in 1.1, will still need the older version available.

Developers can hardcode .NET version requirements, so you often will need to have both installed. I have yet to run into anything that won't run on 2.0, but it's not worth uninstalling 1.1. And certainly keep applying updates to 1.1 as they're released.

well i had a vague understanding of them. i figured anything 1.1 would be backwards compatable to 2.0

    thanks for the answers guys.
