xp screensaver sometimes doesn't come on....anyone else?

xp pro sp2. about half the time, it doesn't work. i close all open apps, except for the ones in the right side of the task bar. if i go to properties > screensaver tab, and just hit "preview" it seems to work again for a while. i turn off my machine every night, if that matters.

anyone know why or how to fix this?

2gb pc4400
6600gt
antec 550w tpII
some hard drives and other stuff

I also noticed this myself. I would usually set it to go to "blank screen" after 5 minutes and some weeks it would work fine. Other weeks it wouldn't turn on at all. I also played with different time periods and even turned my mouse upside down to ensure nothing was moving.

Recently, I put a password on my windows profile & enabled "on resume,password protect". The screensaver always seems to turn on now.

interesting. oh well, it's not a big deal but was wondering if it was common.

set the screensaver hit apply ok remember these
go into safe mode set screensaver the same settings
reboot
