    Best LAN Party games?

I'm having yet another LAN party and I would like to play some other games that are fun.

Any suggestions? Not everyone has a steam account so counter strike and all the source mods are really out of the question.

Both Serious Same: TFE and Serious Sam: TSE are really fun. They have both a death match and co-op mode. The game is old enough now that you don't need an uber high-end box to run it, and it can be a real blast.

In fact, you can often times find both games bundled together for >=$20, so if some one had to buy it, it won't be a major hardship.

Mmm good suggestions. I think I'll go get Serious Sam and Dawn of War. I already have Quake 2 but...I've never played it xD
Got UT and UT2004, those are usually fun for LAN. AOE2 is one of our favorites, so that's definately going to be played.

I'm looking for some interesting UT2k4 mods. I'm also downloading the free FEAR multiplayer to try that out. We were thinking about trying out some C&C:Tiberian Sun.

We're trying to find some original fun games. We would love to play MechWarrior2Mercenaries, but that's messy when you're not using Win98.

The running around corners and constantly fragging can get old.
Is there a game out there with advanced AI, co-op feature for 4-8 people, a difficult game but you don't die too easily. A fast moving, dark corridor, master evil boss fight, skills involved, speed is a plus, running away is sometimes a requirement, has magic spells that you can cast while moving and dodging, awesome audio, not the same old gun em down game, a space game or mideval type game, one where you can have special ops and huge battles...man, i can see it all in my head.
There's so much potential for video games, why hasn't anyone taken advantage of it yet?? Hopfully, Huxley will prove worthy!

Mechwarrior4 is another old-school but entertaining game..doesn't need much of a system to r un it either.

The original Ghost Recon. Add on the 2 expansion packs and Harntrox mods for more maps and weapons.

For RTS, AoE2 with Conquerors expansion is also lots of fun.

And 2 vs 2 in NHL series on a big screen is a a blast.

Jailbreak, was a good MOD for UT2004. I would also suggest changing game styles and mutators.

CTF - LGI 135/35 Tons of fun and very fast paced. (Low Grav Instagib)

Invasion - Hook up a CD with all the mutators needed and config the way you like to play. Tired of killing each other kill tons of critters.

Depending on how many are at the LAN you could setup a Mini Tournament for DM and Team DM and mebbe some CTF.

Can't beat Starcraft and UT2K4 for "normal" games. Favorites around here are BF2142 (me and my roommates are addicted) and TF2, but those require that everyone has bought it (of course, all games do...).

What it all comes down to at a lan is speed. Our lans usually end up including starcraft, but only about one game because it takes too long. With this in mind, I bring you two perfect lan games, crazily high speed and not to difficult to learn... if you're not a moron. For the RTS genre, there is really only one thing I can suggest: Emperor: Battle for Dune. It's incredible speed ensures that within 5 minutes of your first game's start, one player will have been annihilated. Very balanced, but very fast gameplay. For the FPS genre, I give you a free game: Warsow. It is without a doubt the fastest fps there is. It's cell shaded graphics always look very clean, if not amazing, and the space-pun style is quite interesting. But Warsow's main draw is the speed: while you may walk at a slower speed by default than quake or unreal, it is highly unlikely you will be walking: bunny hopping, strafe jumping, rocket jumping, and plasma climbing are the staples of the game. It's not many games in which you see two people moving in opposite directions at 3x walking speed have a midair no-scope sniping firefight. Definitely a valuable addition to your lan games; if you can handle it.
