    I paid $1600 for a 17" SGI LCD back in 2001.

Hey that's good news in my book. Expensive? Of course! But in 18 months I think we'll see some more reasonably priced displays in the US.

30" screen in 2009. That should easily satisfy some big screen people.

At 11" that screen costs $154.55 per inch. Unless they can substantially reduce manufacturing costs a 30" screen could be as much as $4636.50.

It's times like these I like to link to some three year old threads about people not wasting money on LCD's because OLEDs would blow them out of the water. LOL Some day.

And I get constantly reminded that the good old tube still looks better than LCD. For TV broadcasts mind. DVD looks allright on my LCD.

Damn the OLED looks freakin good and the Contrast Ratio = unbelievable.

Hopefully this shows drop in LCD prices soon ,

960 x 540 res for a 11inch is pretty decent, and its 1080p ready . this shows death of LCD in almost 5 year from now.

If you've ever seen an OLED screen, you'll know why people are going bonkers over this stuff...LCD can't touch the IQ that OLED can bring.

More like 540p (1080i) ready.. companies that call something "1080p ready" and don't even have a freaking 1920x1080 resolution piss me off.

There should really be laws against that shiz.

exactly, like "digital ready headphones" w t f ? every speaker is digital ready, AFAIK theres no such thing as a digital speaker, so digital anything in the name of a speaker or headphone is just a marketing gimmick... 1080p ready LMAO! like those 50" plasma screens going for $1900+, they are 720p but they say "1080p ready" or "displays 1080 HD" yeah after it downsamples it....hell, my cellphone can show 1080p if i resize it too.

No no, it's not you, the article DOES say "It sports a 1080p input resolution, though the screen resolution only measures 960 x 540, so it downscales the image to fit the screen."

I'm just saying it's *not* 1080p if it doesn't have at least 1920x1080 resolution. As vairox said, a freaking cell phone could be "1080p ready" using their teminology.

yea they trick people who don't know any better. A few months ago my friend bought a 42" pioneer plasma, the price sounded good but when I set it up for him the picture on the hd channels didn't look as good as my 720p lcd at home. Turns out the resolution on the thing is 1024X768, it's a widescreen monitor too.

Yeah plasmas use weird resolutions. There was a Toshiba (I think) a while back that had a 1024x1024 resolution, despite being widescreen.
