    Now with perpendicular recording technology...yay

I'll have to pick up a couple for my system that I build in 1-2 years.. They will go nicely with my "future rig sig", along with an octacore cpu, dual core gpu w/ 2gb memory, a 1.21 jigawatt ps, and a flux capacitor...
    Spoiler

My roomate just picked up one of the Seagate 320gb drives, 1TB is just incredible. I'd love to fill that sucker up.

Also, any chance we'll see a change in the industry to actual coinside with windows based hdd measuments? It's just going to get worse the more space we get. Right now my roommates hdd only holds 300gb but it's rated at 320gb. So 1TB will actually get you a little over 900gb. I know the 10based blah-thingy but it really needs to change. At some point it almost seems like bait and switch.

    Just always multiply by .93. 1TB HDD = 930GB

hope so, I'm almost out of space...I can get the same capacity with 1 drive instead of the 5 I'm using now! would still have to wait 2 or 3 years after it's release for reasonable price.

I'd like four of them for my future RAID5 storage server. I don't know how I'd fill all that space. Images of other drives would only take me so far...that and I'm not a huge pr0n freak.

Give it a try. It's a fun hobby. Think of it as Pokémon, for adults.

Do those perpendiculars produce significantly more heat than normal drives? Or more heat at all?

    Not that I'm aware of.

I run 7 Cheetah 74GB drives per system without any special cooling in a dual Xeon mid-tower chassis. Why should 1 or 2 drives be a heat issue?
