It's an symbol for end-users to identify with. The square, circle, and triangle, just represent the different components that the bus will connect. Nothing mystical about it. No deeper meaning here, although I'm sure some tinfoil wearing psycho, will come up with something.

Oh yeah to top it all off, the three symbols stem outwards from the main line. That represents a serial connection, if it was parallel there would be three seperate lines for each of the symbols.

Its interesting you should say that. I found a different history and meaning behind it.
"Created in part by Al Gore this symbol details the three pronged attack on earth and where it will come from. The very fact that they stamped this on every computer shows us the level of their arrogance that no one will ever discover their plans."
