    Unhappy cant get 1gbps connection

    Hi guys hopeing someone can help
    i have a sky broadband connection was 100mbps but have upgrade to 200 mbps
    check connection speed and can get above 89mbps, which if a lot of people are using i can except
    but i cant work out whats wrong hardware side i have a rampage formula x79 board cat 5e cable
    speed link is set to auto b Register Status : Passed
    EEPROM Status : Passed
    FIFO Status : Passed
    Interrupt Status : Passed
    Loopback Test(s) : Passed
    ut if i set it to 1gbps i lose connection to net? run test and
    if set to 100 mbps i get this

    Connection Status : Passed
    Successfully pinged Gateway address 192.168.0.1

    Cable Link Status : Passed
    The adapter is configured to force the
    speed to a low speed.

    but if i set to 1gbps i get this

    Connection Status : Failed
    This adapter does not have link. Make
    sure the cable is connected and the speed
    and duplex settings are configured correctly
    on the adapter and link partner.

    if i speed test mac book its at same speed over wirless as computer so im think im not get the speed from sky? if i not would that stop my lan from switching to 1gbps connection ? hope this makes sense im confused

    I am Not sure what is that you have in term of LAN and Internet since your description is not detailed enough.

    At the time using 1GB/sec is only a LAN capacity and it works well when your Computers are using Wire LAN Cards that are 1GB capable (Wireless LAN is Not 1GB capable) and the switches that are used for LAN are 1GB capable too.

    WAN (Internet) should Not be set to 1GB.

    As for the Internet connection it might be that it does not go over 100MB/sec due to an old Modem limitation. Many of the ISPs supplied Modems have to be replaced by newer ones in order to support Speed over 100 MB/sec.
