web traffic routing through university's servers

k so here's something fishy. I'm home for summer and it seems like whenever a new app needs access to the internet, and my firewall pops up asking me for permission, the outbound address is **.stanford.edu

now i feel like all my web traffic is being routed through my university servers. something's fishy. anyone know how to fix it

    What are the connection parameters?

    From a CMD window -
    enter ipconfig/all and
    enter route print.

    Post the results.

I don't see anything unusual in what you've posted. There may be something in the application's configuration that routes it to Stanford. Is that the source of the software?

You can empty the route cache by entering ipconfig/flushdns, but I do not see that as an issue.

    Sounds like a proxy issue.

If you are using Internet Explorer as your primary browser:
    1. Control Panel --> Internet Options
    2. Go to Connections tab --> LAN Settings button
    3. Uncheck ANY checkboxes that are checked.
    4. Close all windows. Reboot PC.

If you are using Firefox as your primary browser:
    1. Open Firefox. Go to Tools --> Options
    2. Go to Advanced tab --> Network tab
    3. Hit the Connection Settings button
    4. Choose "Direct connection to the Internet"
    5. Close all windows. Reboot PC.

Follow these directions even if the app you are using doesn't use a web browser. These proxy settings control network traffic even outside of the browser app.
